Why I Became a Financial Advisor

By Jared Andreoli, CFP®, CSLP®

What do you want to be when you grow up? How many of us were asked this question as a kid and didn’t know what to say, or we gave some far-fetched answer like “I want to be a superhero!”? Maybe some of us are still trying to figure out the answer to that question. Most kids wouldn’t say they want to become a financial advisor, but I was one of the lucky ones because I knew from an early age that I loved anything to do with money.

I have always been interested in the world of finance and fascinated by how this tool can help people turn their goals into reality. Some of my favorite toys or gifts as a child were a coin sorter and The Kids’ Money Book, now a cherished possession. Even at a young age, I realized that by managing money well, I could accomplish more and reach my goals. I also enjoy helping people achieve success by connecting on a personal level. So, when it came time to decide on a degree in college and a future career, the financial services industry seemed like a natural fit. Very rarely do people’s passions line up with their careers, but I am lucky enough to do what I love every day.

First Career Steps

While earning a degree in finance from Western Kentucky University, I was fortunate to pursue another passion of mine: baseball. After graduation, my career in college baseball may have ended, but my finance career was just getting started.

Putting my degree to good use, I spent six years working as a mutual fund administrator for a large company. While I gained a wealth of knowledge and experience there, I wanted to have a more personal connection with clients that I couldn’t experience in the corporate world. So, after earning the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and Certified Student Loan Planner (CSLP®) designations, I combined my passion for finance and interpersonal relationships and established Simplicity Financial in 2017.

Branching Out

I started Simplicity Financial because I wanted to engage with clients on a more personal level. As one of the few independent, fee-only RIAs in Milwaukee, I can provide unbiased advice and a level of service that is missing for the clients I work with best—young physicians starting out in their careers.

I am committed to helping my clients have a holistic view of their financial picture, so they have a clear understanding of where they want to go and how to get there. I help them by creating a custom financial plan, partnering with them to solve their financial problems so they can achieve their goals.

Why I Love What I Do

I enjoy coming into work and seeing a full calendar of client meetings. Having conversations with my clients that can help turn their finances around is one of the most fulfilling parts of my job. I am passionate about helping people work through challenging financial situations, educating them on finances, or achieving a goal because it brings me a sense of satisfaction knowing I had a small part in improving their life. I am also motivated to work hard for my clients and their families because I recently started my own family; providing for them is a driving force behind what I do every day.
